Your location stays under your control
HangWashing is designed so that a visitor can check a forecast without creating an account or agreeing to personal history collection.
Forecast searches
Postcodes are used to find forecast coordinates and return the requested weather information. When current location is chosen, reduced-precision coordinates are used for weather lookup. Location memory is optional.
Cloudflare supplies a broad country classification from the visitor’s network connection. HangWashing uses only a UK, overseas or unknown result to decide whether the postcode field or current-location option should be shown first. This interface preference is not saved, does not request precise browser location and is not used for advertising.
Google Ads measurement
HangWashing temporarily uses a Google Ads conversion event to understand when an advert leads to a successfully generated forecast. The event is sent only after forecast information has loaded successfully; failed searches and automatic 30-minute refreshes are not counted. The event does not include a postcode, coordinates, account information or any forecast values.
Google Consent Mode keeps advertising storage, analytics storage, advertising user data and personalisation denied. HangWashing does not enable Google advertising cookies or personalised advertising. Google may use limited, consent-denied measurement signals to provide aggregated or modelled campaign reporting.
Remembering a location
If “Remember this location” is selected, the postcode or reduced-precision location is stored on that device. Turning the option off removes that saved value. It is not required to use the forecast.
Cookies and local storage
HangWashing uses temporary, strictly necessary cookies to complete a secure sign-in and maintain the account session requested by the user. By default, authentication cookies last only for the current browser session. If “Keep me signed in on this device” is selected, a secure authentication cookie is retained for up to 30 days after the most recent successful session renewal. Regular use may therefore extend the signed-in period. Signing out removes the authentication cookies immediately.
The optional “Remember postcode/location” control stores the selected postcode or reduced-precision location in the browser’s local storage. It can be removed by turning the option off or choosing “Forget location on this device”. HangWashing does not use advertising or behavioural-tracking cookies.
Optional accounts
Users may choose an account to sync saved locations and use account features. They can authenticate through Google or a single-use code sent to their email address. HangWashing does not receive or store user passwords. Account information can be exported or deleted from the account controls.
Security checks
The email sign-in form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to protect HangWashing and its users from automated abuse. When the security check runs, Cloudflare processes technical browser and network signals, which may include an IP address, browser characteristics and the result of the security check. HangWashing uses the resulting verification token only to decide whether a sign-in code may be sent.
Turnstile is a strictly necessary security measure, not an advertising or behavioural-tracking service. More information is available in Cloudflare’s Turnstile privacy terms.
Website statistics
HangWashing uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregated website usage and performance, including page views, popular pages, broad referral sources, countries, device types and page-loading measurements. Cloudflare states that Web Analytics does not collect or use visitors’ personal data. HangWashing does not use these statistics to build advertising profiles or track people across other websites.
Optional forecast history
Personal drying-score history is off by default and is recorded only after explicit consent. Users can withdraw that consent and delete their account data.
Optional washing-plan alerts
Signed-in users can choose to monitor a washing plan. HangWashing stores the selected postcode, target date, recommended hang-out time and forecast score so later forecasts can be compared. An email is sent only if the recommendation moves by at least one hour or conditions become unsuitable. Plans are marked finished after an alert, cancellation or expiry and are removed when the account is deleted.
Optional load-aware monitoring
When a signed-in user starts washing monitoring, they can select one or more broad load categories, such as light clothing, towels or bedding. HangWashing stores those categories with the active monitoring session and uses the slowest-drying selection, elapsed conditions and updated forecasts to revise an indicative full-load drying time and provide a one-time likely-dry alert. Users may separately save a usual category selection in their profile so it is preselected next time; this preference does not create a record of individual loads and can be changed or cleared at any time. When notifications on the device are enabled they are used for active-washing alerts instead of sending a duplicate email; otherwise an enabled email alert is used. The selection is not used for advertising and is removed with the monitoring record or when the account is deleted.
Optional drying-space preferences
Signed-in users may save general information about permanent shade around their washing area, typical shelter from the wind and whether they use a washing line or rotary dryer. These choices refine drying scores and indicative drying times; they do not describe a precise garden location and are not used for advertising. Neutral defaults leave the forecast calculation unchanged. The preferences can be changed at any time and are removed when the account is deleted.
Optional notifications on this device
Signed-in users can separately enable web push notifications on a supported computer, phone or tablet. The browser asks for permission before notification delivery is enabled. HangWashing stores the device’s push subscription endpoint and encryption keys so likely-dry, rain and rising-humidity alerts can be delivered while washing monitoring is active. Notification text does not include a postcode or precise location. Users can disable notifications for an individual device from My account or through their browser settings; expired subscriptions are removed.
Service providers
HangWashing uses Postcodes.io for UK postcode lookup, Open-Meteo for weather forecasts, Supabase for account authentication and protected account data, Resend for sign-in and alert emails, Google for optional sign-in and consent-controlled advertising measurement, Cloudflare for hosting, delivery, aggregated Web Analytics and Turnstile security checks, and the notification delivery service selected by the user’s browser when notifications are enabled on a device. These providers receive only the information needed to provide the relevant service.
